● In July 2017, the Royal Commission for AlUla (or RCU) was formally established by Royal Order to reinvigorate this region of extraordinary natural and cultural significance.
● The Royal Commission is developing and delivering a sensitive, sustainable transformation of the region, ready to receive and delight visitors from around the world. RCU will protect and regenerate the natural beauty of AlUla’s unique geological landscape and reaffirm its position as one of Saudi Arabia’s most important archaeological and cultural areas.
● This particular focus on the AlUla region is a key element of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 program to develop a dynamic tourism sector. Saudi Arabia’s natural, cultural and historic assets have evident, untapped potential to appeal to a range of visitors, whom the Kingdom looks forward to welcoming.
