To achieve our vision, RCU will be working closely with partners within and beyond Saudi Arabia.We are working with local and international experts in archaeology, heritage conservation and preservation, architecture and master planning to deliver an environmentally and historically-sensitive transformation of AlUla.
Working hand-in-hand with the local community, we will invest in education and learning for AlUla’s next generation and create training and employment opportunities for its people.
Our development plan will commission the infrastructure and visitor facilities that will underpin AlUla’s future success, while protecting its natural beauty and historic sites.
The Executive Committee was formed in December 2018 and is responsible for reviewing RCU’s strategy, work plans, and annual plan, and supervising their implementation. It is also responsible for supervising RCU's operational projects and expansion works according to its strategies and annual work plan.
The Committee's responsibilities also include reviewing the annual estimated budget and recommending it to the council for approval, reviewing RCU's financial performance, and making recommendations to the Board, as well as other tasks assigned to it by the Board.
The Audit Committee was formed in June 2018. It is concerned with monitoring RCU's work, supervising the financial and accounting reports and financial statements, and ensuring that RCU complies with the relevant regulations and instructions. It is also responsible for submitting recommendations to the Board to nominate the auditor, to determine his fees, his duration of work, and his dismissal. The Audit Committee also nominates the head of the internal audit department, supervises the work of the internal audit, studies its reports, and approves the manual of internal audit policies, procedures, and organizational structure.
The Committee may consider the competence and efficiency of RCU's internal control system. Its tasks also include appointing the head of risk management, supervising the work of risk management, verifying if the appropriate programs or controls to combat fraud and embezzlement. The Audit Committee also approves risk management policies and procedures, in addition to approving its organizational structure. The Committee also makes proposals to amend regulations, ensuring the development and improvement of internal control systems, alongside other tasks assigned to it by the Board.
The Nomination and Remuneration Committee was formed in June 2018. It is concerned with reviewing the policies of nominations, evaluation, succession plans, remunerations, and governance at the level of the Board and its committees, as well as the level of the Advisory Board and RCU's Senior Executive Management. The Committee submits its recommendations to the Board of Directors, as well as setting standards for the CEO’s performance and evaluation, and submitting them to the Board. It also supervises RCU's governance framework as per the approved regulations, instructions, and policies, alongside other tasks assigned to it by the Board.

The Crown Prince is leading the effort to restructure Saudi Arabia’s economy with the implementation of Vision 2030, which aims to reduce the country’s dependence on oil and develop public service sectors such as health, education, infrastructure, recreation, and tourism.
H.H. Prince Badr was appointed as Governor of the Royal Commission for AlUla by Royal Decree in 2017. He has been the Minister of Culture since 2018, and is the first Minister since the formation of the ministry.

Dr. Saad bin Abdullah AlSowayan is an academic and a professor of Sociology at King Saud University (KSU). He is also a researcher specialized in oral history and Arabic Nabataean poetry.
He was an assistant professor at KSU and supervised the Traditional Heritage Museum at the College of Arts. He served as the Head of the Social Studies Department and was the CEO and General Director of the “King Abdulaziz Al Saud Documentary Project”. He was the Scientific Supervisor and Editor-in-Chief of the “Traditional Culture Documentary Project”.
Dr. AlSowayan holds a PHD in Anthropology, Folklore, and Oriental Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, in the United States of America (USA), and a Master’s Degree in People and Anthropology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, USA.
Dr. Eid is a researcher in the Anthropology, Archeology, and Geography of the Arabian Peninsula. He is the author of the Tripartite Theory of National Knowledge, upon which the nation-state is based. He started his professional career as a Teacher at the National Guard schools, then traveled to the United Kingdom (UK) to pursue his higher studies. During his journey in the UK, he made a contract with the Saudi Embassy in London where he executed exhibitions and cultural activities on the history of social and political Saudi heritage. Upon his return, he worked at the King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue and was a part-time researcher at the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies.
He was a writer and presenter of the program “Retracing Arab Footsteps” produced by Al Arabiya Channel. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Exeter, his Master’s Degree in Diplomatic Sciences from the University of Westminster in the UK, and his Bachelor’s Degree in Arabic Language from Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University.
He participated in international conferences promoting the fields of dialogue, peace, and cultural acquaintance among communities and peoples. He authored several of books including "The Travelers in the Arabian Peninsula”, The British Discoverers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia", and "Voices of the Arabian Peninsula in the Eyes of the Greatest Traveler".

In cooperation with his team at the College of Art, he established educational centers and programms in different parts of the globe that aim at engaging the youth with their cultural heritage through artistic and craft disciplines.
